A Nationwide Program offering intensive training of the Ukrainian specialists in prosthetics and rehabilitation is being implemented.

Today, in Ukraine, there is an urgent need for professional exchanges and advanced training of a greater number of specialists in the field of limb prosthetics and related rehabilitation.

That is why we are conducting a large-scale nationwide program of intensive training of prosthetists and related rehabilitation specialists. Organizer - Protez Hub.
Program partners: Prosthetika, World Rehabilitation Fund, Airlink, Inc., Humanitarian Initiative "Saving Lives" Metinvest, Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapists, War Trauma Rehabilitation Project, Nova Ukraine and the Ukrainian community of Thailand. Endorsed by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

During the first week of June 2023, in Lviv, a group of leading American and British specialists in prosthetics and rehabilitation will exchange experience with Ukrainian colleagues. 10 prosthetists and 20 physical therapists from different parts of Ukraine will take part. Prosthetists will master the effective technology of prosthetics for complex lower-limb amputations. Physical therapists will be trained in the use of early verticalization equipment, as well as the principles of prosthetic rehabilitation and gait training.

As part of the program, thanks to the financial support of Metinvest, 10 health care and social assistance institutions in seven regions of Ukraine will be provided with unique for Ukraine equipment for the early verticalization of patients with amputations of the lower limbs (such equipment is effectively used in the health care institutions of the National Health Service of Great Britain).

We have been training Ukrainian specialists since 2014, supporting them with advice and expertise from the beginning of the full-scale invasion through online webinars and consultations. Practical exchange is always the most valuable experience,' says Jon Batzdorff, CPO, Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist, President of the Prosthetika and Chairman of the Protez Hub expert committee.
